Thinking about helping SHS seniors
with college costs?

It's simple to do and it will make a huge difference to SHS graduates struggling to pay for college.

Just talk with a member of the Salem Education Foundation Dollars for Scholars® Board of Directors (Click Here) to see how you can get involved.  There are basically three ways you can work with the Salem Education Foundation Dollars for Scholars® in Salem, Indiana to help SHS students pay for their postsecondary education:

1. Start your own scholarship from scratch. By naming your own scholarship you can memorialize a family member or an organization, and create your own list of criteria for student applicants to meet. To insure that the scholarship is available for future generations of students, we encourage donors to work with the Washington County Community Foundation to create an endowment to fund scholarships perpetually.

2. Contribute to an existing scholarship. Look over Salem Education Foundation Dollars for Scholars® current award list. You may find an existing award that connects with your career or interests, or that would mean something to a family member or friend. Your donation could boost the amount of the scholarship or the number of students awarded the scholarship.

3. Design a pass-through or one-time only scholarship through the Salem Education Foundation Dollars for Scholars®. Just come up with a scholarship name, list your criteria for selection, and provide the funds to Salem Education Foundation Dollars for Scholars®--then we'll do all the rest. Salem Education Foundation Dollars for Scholars® will publicize the scholarship, distribute applications, and present the award on Salem High School's Honor Day ceremony in May.
